October 2021: There was opposition from Jordanian citizens as the Ministry of Education began courses on gender mainstreaming, since they consider it to be related to homosexuality and may allow students to convert into homosexuals. A director of one of the Directorates of Education denied any link between the gender mainstreaming courses and LGBT persons. On 9 October, the Islamic Action Front party wrote to the Ministry of Education expressing its concern regarding the gender mainstreaming courses and asked them to be stopped, stating that “the concept of gender will affect the form, meaning and structure of the family.” (rough translation from Arabic)
