The form of backlash

7 October 2021: A proposal for having a quota for women in the elections scheduled for 2022 was dismissed by Members of Parliament, who refused to even allow time to consider it. The bill, put forward by MP Inaya Ezzedine, proposed 26 out of 128 parliamentary seats to be set aside for women and for electoral lists to include a minimum of 40% of both male and female candidates.
