In June, the New Arab reported that the Justice and Development Party (PJD) told the Human Rights Council to ‘stop abusing the religious constants of Moroccan people,’ following their statements saying that inequality in inheritance exacerbates poverty among women and that the issue must be addressed from a human rights perspective. In November, local media reported that the leader of the party emphasised his opposition to equality in inheritance.
