The film "Barbie" faced a ban request in Lebanon, with Culture Minister Mohammad Mourtada citing that the film, scheduled for screening from August 31, "goes against moral and religious values in Lebanon" and is accused of "promoting homosexuality and change of sex."
Lebanon's General Security agency, which is responsible for reviewing any films, plays or books to be released in Lebanon, subsequently issued a decision authorising the film's screening.
