On July 24, Hezbollah leader in Lebanon, Hassan Nasrallah, called for anti-gay violence causing fear among the LGBTIQ+ community. Nasrallah labeled same-sex relations as "sexual perversion" and declared gay people a "threat to society." Earlier, on July 22, he had urged for the killing of LGBTIQ+ people and encouraged the use of derogatory language.
