During Pride month, the Interior Minister of Lebanon issued a memo urging police and security forces to break up gatherings held by the country's LGBTQ+ community. Responding to pressure from religious groups, the Minister claimed that all forms of celebration must be prohited as "This phenomenon (homosexuality and expressions of queer identities, presumably) is contrary to the habits and customs of our society".
