On 16 March, 24 women’s rights defenders and activists in Diyarbakır were detained by police. According to FIDH, they were interrogated on gatherings and demonstrations such as those for International Women’s Day, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and protests against the withdrawal of the Istanbul Convention. On 18 March, 11 of the activists and defenders were sent to Diyarbakır Prison, while the rest were released.
