June 2021: Morocco’s “New Model of Development,” presented by the Special Commission on the Development Model (CSMD), adopted an archaic development model in terms of gender equality, according to the Association Democratique des Femmes du Maroc (ADFM). The ADFM stated that “it draws from an outdated vision (or terminology) which makes women into a category like young people, who are of both sexes. Rather, women are not a category, nor a sector-specific social problem falling under the jurisdiction of the department of family, children and handicapped persons, as has been the case for several decades” (rough translation from French).
