Palestine: The systematic destruction of sexual and reproductive healthcare as a genocidal act

Since October 7, 2023, sexual violence has become systematic in Palestine. These acts of violence, encouraged by the Israeli state, have been documented during the evacuations of Gaza and in detention facilities. Among these acts of violence are forced stripping, sexual harassment, threats of rape, and sexual assault. Israeli soldiers even openly share the atrocities they commit on their social media accounts.

Furthermore, Israeli authorities have largely destroyed Palestinian women's ability to have children through the systematic destruction of sexual and reproductive health services. This corresponds to two categories of genocidal acts: first, deliberately inflicting living conditions calculated to bring about the physical destruction of Palestinians, and second, imposing measures aimed at preventing births.

Indeed, the Israeli army targets reproductive health facilities and does not hesitate to attack maternity wards, as well as Gaza's main in vitro fertilization clinic. Additionally, famine, used as a method of war, impacts all aspects of reproduction.
