On 22 July, prominent LGBTQI+ activist, Saif Ayadi, was among a group of protesters arrested by police during demonstrations against the referendum on the President’s new constitution. Saif Ayadi, of Damj Association, has previously been arrested, during which he was ill-treated and insulted by police due to his sexual orientation (see this publication from Human Rights Watch in February 2021).
