The French organisation “SOS homophobie” (SOS homophobia) has reported an increase in physical homophobic attacks in their latest report. In 2022, SOS homophobie received 1,506 testimonies via its listening and support lines for victims of LGBTIphobia. Especially transphobic violence and discrimination has increased, with 27% compared to 2021 and 35% compared to 2020. The report states that the violent acts against gay and trans people included “ambushes set up using dating apps” and often had “superficial or non-existent motives”. This is part of a wider trend of an anti-LGBTQI+ movement.
