On 15 and 16 April, five Sahrawi women activists were violently attacked by Moroccan security forces after participating in peaceful demonstrations, according to Amnesty International. Two of the five women were reportedly subjected to sexual assault. The activists demonstrated solidarity with pro-independence Sahrawi WHRD Sultana Khaya who had been under arbitrary house arrest since the end of 2020 and has also been subjected to sexual assault by Moroccan forces.
