17 March 2021: Woman human rights defender and film editor Sanaa Seif was sentenced to 18 months in prison on charges of “spreading false news,” “misusing social media” and “insulting a police officer on duty,” according to Amnesty International. She was arrested from outside the office of the Public Prosecutor on 23 June 2020 where she was going to submit a complaint of physical assault against her, her mother and her sister, which had taken place in full view of the police.
