In April, member of Femmes Marocaines Contre la Detention Politique group and human rights defender, Saida El Alami, was handed a two-year prison sentence over social media posts in which she criticised the authorities’ crackdown on activists and journalists and the harassment she was subjected to by the police. In September, the verdict was amended to three years.
