On 13 February, Khitam Saafin – WHRD and president of the Union of Palestinian Women’s Committees (UPWC) - was sentenced to 16 months in prison and a fine. Israel had designated UPWC a terrorist organisation in October 2021 and one of the charges against her was being the director of a banned organisation, according to the New Arab.
She had been arrested in November 2020 and had been held in detention without charge until the court sentence in February 2022.
