24 June 2021: The Syrian government began a siege on the district of Daraa al-Balad which would last two and a half months, leading to a humanitarian crisis and the displacement of thousands. In August, the United Nations stated that over 38,000 displaced individuals had been registered in the area, including more than 20,000 children and nearly 15,000 women.
