In July, it was reported that MP Cynthia Zarazir, who had been recently elected, was subjected to misogynic behaviour and harassment, including allegedly finding used condoms and porn magazines in her office. Amnesty condemned the patriarchal behaviour towards women MPs in the Lebanese parliament, saying on Twitter that ‘MPs, particularly parliament speaker Nabih Berri, must take responsibility to end such attacks against #women and stop enabling a misogynistic environment.’
