Government reshuffle ignites fears of LGBTIQ+ community

SOS Homophobia expressed its concerns after the ministerial reshuffle carried out on July 20 and the appointment of Aurore Bergé as Minister of Solidarity and Families, and of Bérangère Couillard as Minister Delegate for Equality between Women and Men and the Fight against Discrimination. The association affirmed Couillard opposed the integration of same-sex couples in a draft law against domestic violence in 2020 while Bergé, tabled an amendment effectively of excluding trans men from the right to perform an abortion.
