Increase in complaints of violence and abuse since 2020, the majority of victims being women and girls

The number of complaints has vastly increased since the family violence police units became active in 2020. Moreover, an estimated 75 percent of victims of family violence and abuse of minors are girls and women. There was a 45 percent increase in family violence and minor’s abuse in 2021 compared to 2020. Also, the number of arrests for criminal offences against women had augmented in 2021 and 2021.
