Speakers at an event called “Cork Says No”, organised by the leaders of Ireland’s newest far-right political party, Ireland First, used the platform to expound anti-refugee, anti-climate policy, and a number of other right-wing political views and conspiracy theories. Among these was a protest against the availability of LGBTIQ+ reading materials for children at the library. A banner stated: “There are only two genders Male & Female”.
