April 2021: The Higher Planning Commission (HCP) undertook a study on violence against men in 2019 which was published on their website on 12 April 2021. The Association Democratique des Femmes du Maroc (ADFM) ironically commented in a statement that the results of the study “make Morocco a global exception where the “prevalence of violence suffered by men” is similar to or even exceeds that of violence against women!” (rough translation from French). They point out methodological and conceptual flaws with the study particularly related to the definition and understanding of violence.
